St. Louis: There are some wounds that become diseased and do not heal, while most wounds of diabetics heal very late. For this, a revolutionary hydrogel has been developed that can quickly heal wounds by adding oxygen.
Although the wounds are already being treated with oxygen therapy, microscopic pearls have now been added to the water-filled paddle, which puts oxygen directly into the wound. Oxygen heals wounds faster and heals ulcers.
Scientists at the University of Washington, Missouri, St. Louis, basically created a liquid and added shell microscopic grains containing the enzyme catalyst. As soon as this liquid is put on a bandage and applied to the wound, it becomes like elastic jelly due to the heat of the skin. The kettles in the grain shell then combine with hydrogen peroxide to form molecular oxygen. This process lasts for two weeks and oxygen reduces inflammation and builds new skin cells.
Another highlight is that the strip destroys a dangerous chemical called reactive oxygen species (ARVs). ROS levels rise when oxygen is applied to the wound. In this way, hydrogel also controls oxygen to the wound.
As usual, the mice became trained on this technology. The use of granular hydrogel reduced the wound to 90%, or 10% of the original. In comparison, burns without grains reduced the wound by 70%. While the incurable wounds were left as they were, their size was halved.
Another benefit of the treatment was that the skin that the grain hydrogel applied to the wounds was very thick and all this happened in just eight days. It is hoped that this will help in the healing of complex wounds and diabetic wounds.
