Mumbai: The Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court has given a deadline to actress Kangana Ranaut in the Javed Akhtar defamation case.
According to Indian media reports, a petition filed by Javed Akhtar against actress Kangana Ranaut was heard in the Mumbai Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court today in which the lawyers of both appeared. The case was heard by Magistrate RR Khan.
Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer told the court that the actress is currently out of the country so she could not appear in court. The lawyer asked the court to grant Kangana Ranaut’s request for absence.
Javed Akhtar’s lawyer demanded the court to reject Kangana Ranaut’s request for absence and issue an immediate bailable warrant against him.
Magistrate RR Khan, after hearing the arguments of the lawyers, granted Kangana Ranaut’s plea and said that if Kangana Ranaut did not appear before the court at the next hearing, a bailable warrant would be issued.
It may be recalled that last year, well-known Indian poet Javed Akhtar had filed a defamation suit against actress Kangana Ranaut in the Mumbai Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, alleging that the actress had mocked him on national television and actor Shashant Singh Rajput. Made baseless comments in his statements on the death of which has damaged his dignity.
