Mumbai: The reason for the Indian Cricket Board to take u-turns at ICC events has come to light.
The Indian board, along with England and Australia, had initially opposed the council’s decision to increase the number of global events and had hinted at forming a separate bloc. Events have been approved, including the return of the Champions Trophy. The BCCI’s U-turn is said to be due to the possibility of window expansion for the IPL.
A media report said that the Indian board would need at least 15 extra days to add two new teams to the IPL. Therefore, he expects international cricket not to be scheduled even in the last part of March so that he can easily hold around 94 matches. It currently has a 52- to 54-day window for 60 matches.
