The robot vacuum cleaner is a convenient and easy-to-use device for keeping your home clean. It seems that it does not require any worries at all, but it is not. It must be cleaned periodically, and it must be done correctly.
Cleaning the container
The container should be cleaned every one or two cleaning sessions. The less the container is filled with dust, the better the robot vacuum cleaner will perform. Its suction power is not very high anyway, and if there is also a dust barrier, then the efficiency is greatly reduced.
The sequence of actions is simple: you need to take out the container (in some models it is under the lid), open and throw the garbage into the basket. After that, it is better to rinse the container under the tap and dry it.
Cleaning the filters
The next step is to clean the filters. Everyone is accustomed to just washing all filters under water like a regular handheld vacuum cleaner, but the HEPA filter of most robotic vacuum cleaners cannot be washed under water, since it essentially consists of paper. If you wash it, it will get wet and its service life will be significantly reduced.
The removed set of filters should be carefully separated, and rinsed under the tap everything except the HEPA filter (it looks like an accordion made of paper in a plastic frame).
Then we dry them in air, but not on a battery or under a hairdryer. This can damage the filters. The HEPA filter must be carefully cleaned with the brush that comes with almost all robotic vacuum cleaners.
If not, you can use a soft toothbrush or other soft brush for cleaning. But you can use a simpler and more effective method, clean the filter with a regular vacuum cleaner.
However, even with careful handling, it gradually loses its effectiveness, so the HEPA filter must be changed periodically . Usually – once every 2-3 months (depending on how often you use the vacuum cleaner). The rest of the filters can be changed as they wear out. At the end, we collect everything in its original position and put it back into the robot vacuum cleaner.

Cleaning the turbo brush
The turbo brush should be cleaned as it gets dirty every 3-4 weeks and replaced as it wears on average every 6-8 months.
Different robot vacuum cleaners have different ways of attaching the brush, so carefully read the instructions before removing it. The biggest problem with brushing is the hair. They are the hardest to remove from the brush, and in no case should you just rip them off – you can damage the brush. It is best to clean the brush with a plastic comb or carefully cut with the included knife. In the absence of such a knife, you can use ordinary scissors.
If your robot vacuum has corner brushes, they can be removed with a standard Phillips screwdriver and washed under the tap.
It is better to remove the bent bristles – they can interfere with the capture of debris. They can be cut with a knife that comes with the vacuum cleaner (it can be attached to the brush or lie separately). Or you can just use nail scissors. Angle brushes should be replaced as they wear, on average every 3-4 months.
It is also important to clean the wheels of the robot vacuum cleaner. Especially the front wheel, as hair can get wrapped around it, which can put an increased load on the drive wheels and lead to overheating of the engine and accelerated battery discharge. On most models, to remove and clean it, you need to take a screwdriver or other thin object and pry the wheel with it.
The rotary wheel is cleaned in the same way.
However, before removing the wheels, refer to the instructions first – there may be options. So, not all models can be removed with a swivel wheel. If the wheels are not removable, they should be cleaned in place with a brush, toothpick, or other thin object.
Cleaning the sensors
If there is a layer of dust on the sensors of the robot vacuum cleaner, then it will become worse orientated in space and its efficiency will decrease or even drop to zero. Usually on the top of the robot vacuum cleaner there is either a laser sensor or a camera with which it determines its location in the room and builds its plan. He also has height sensors, which are responsible for ensuring that the robot vacuum cleaner does not fall from hills. All of them need to be cleaned. Cleaning itself is very simple – you just need to wipe them with a damp cloth. It is also advisable to clean the robot vacuum cleaner itself from time to time.As you can see, cleaning the robot vacuum cleaner is no big deal. Most importantly, do not forget the basic principles: carefully read the instructions before cleaning and do not use brute force.
