LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actor Michael K. Williams, who starred in HBO’s hit drama series The Wire, has died of drug overdose.
Michael K. Williams has also been nominated for three Emmy Awards for his lively performances. He had admitted in several interviews that he was badly addicted to drugs, he had tried to get rid of it but it was all in vain.
A statement from New York Police Department spokesman John Grimpel said Michael’s Williams lived in the Brooklyn area. An emergency call for his death was received around 4 p.m.

Fellow actors have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Michael Williams and extended their heartfelt condolences to his family. Wendell Pierce wrote in his tweet that Michael was like my brothers, I am very heartbroken to hear the news of his death.
“Michael K. Williams was a very talented actor, and I am shocked by the news of his death,” actor George Taki said in a statement.

Famous filmmaker James Gunn, in his tweet, paid tribute to Michael K. Williams, saying that he had a very compassionate nature. The British actor also praised Michael Williams in his statement saying that he taught me a lot, I still remember his advice, he left us very soon and passed away.
The late actor Michael K. Williams, who was born in 1966, started his career as a dancer. He also performed with great singers Madonna and Michael Jackson for many years. However, after that he said goodbye to dancing and stepped into the field of acting and proved his mettle.
