Dubai: The United Arab Emirates has said that the former Afghan president and his family are being held in the country on humanitarian grounds.
According to CNN, a statement issued by the UAE Foreign Ministry confirmed the presence of the fugitive Afghan president in the UAE. According to the statement, the UAE welcomed the former Afghan president and his family to the UAE on humanitarian grounds.

It may be recalled that Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had fled the country after the Taliban took control of Kabul on Sunday. According to initial reports, he had gone to Tajikistan. However, Tajikistan vehemently denied that Ashraf Ghani had arrived in the country or that his plane had crossed Tajik airspace, saying such reports circulating in the media were baseless.
Since then, they have had no idea what country they are in. However, the UAE Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the former Afghan president is in our country.
